Winter Percussion is a competitive activity that combines music, dance and theatrics. It is best described as a “sport of the arts.” Competitions take place indoors during winter months, where students are judged on both music and visual components.
Each ensemble performs a series of songs (movements) focused on a central concept. Props, costumes, floor mat and music are all selected specifically for how they contribute to, and enhance, the selected theme. Leigh competes as a World Class ensemble (top scholastic level), and we continue to make our mark as a premier ensemble in Northern California.

Do you need to be a drummer?
No you don’t, but musical experience is recommended. Winter Percussion is made up of a diverse group of individuals with the drive to have a good time, participate in a rewarding team activity and compete in a sport that takes a lot of hard work. This is a place where you will make lifelong friends, have an incredibly rewarding experience, and learn how to become a world class drummer.

Parent Volunteers
An award-winning program doesn’t happen without parent volunteers. CUHSD requires some volunteers to be cleared — see Volunteer Certification.
