Connect with PAPA!

All parents and guardians of Performing Arts students are welcome and encouraged to volunteer at Leigh Performing Art’s activities and events. Volunteering is a great way to connect with your high school student, and also helps support Leigh’s award winning performing arts programs. Without volunteer support, our programs would not have the success they’ve had to date.

Two classifications of volunteers

Level 1 — can work with students without a certified professional present (i.e., credentialed teacher or staff).

Anyone who volunteers with students on a consistent basis is considered a Level 1 volunteer and should get cleared by the District. Activities such as helping back stage for the Fall Play, working the First Aid station for marching band, or chaperoning a trip qualify as Level 1.

Level 2 — can only work with students when a certified professional is present.

Level 2 activities include things like selling tickets at the Haunted House, setting up the Rummage sale, or selling baked goods at a concert. With these activities interaction with students is either infrequent or under the supervision of a certified professional.

Get cleared as a Level 1 volunteer

Consider the ways you want to volunteer and take the following actions if you’d like to be cleared as a Level 1 volunteer. Once you are cleared you will not need to repeat the process for 4 years.

  1. Provide your name, email, phone number, and expected volunteer duties to Debi Bodenheimer, Leigh’s Activity Director, to let LHS know that you are starting the process.
  2. Complete the online application. It takes 30–60 minutes but does NOT need to be completed in one sitting. Part of this process includes getting your fingerprints on file with the district.
  3. Submit evidence of a negative TB test (TB test form).
  4. Upon completion, request your badge.

Thank you for your support in volunteering with PAPA and staying in compliance with District policy.
