Leigh High School Winter Percussion

2024 Show : Late Night Longhorns

Winter Percussion

Winter Percussion is a competitive activity that combines music, dance and theatrics. It is best described as a “sport of the arts”.  Competitions take place indoors during winter months, where students are judged on both music and visual components.

Each ensemble performs a series of songs (movements) focused on a central concept.  Props, costumes, floor mat and music are all selected specifically for how they contribute to, and enhance, the selected theme. Leigh competes as a World Class ensemble (top scholastic level), and we continue to make our mark as a premier ensemble in Northern California.

Do you need to be a drummer?

No you don’t, but musical experience is recommended.  Winter Percussion is made up of a diverse group of individuals with the drive to have a good time, want to participate in a rewarding team activity and compete in a sport that takes a lot of hard work. This is a place where you will make life long friends and have an incredibly rewarding experience and where you will learn how to become a world class drummer.

A whimsical show […]

Percussion Life: Training

Being a member of a World Class percussion is a no easy feat. A vast amount of training is required…physically, mentally, and musically.
